Questions
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The QR code is read inside your browser. The photo, the camera picture and the IBAN are never sent to a server or stored.
Which QR codes can it read?
Raast person-to-person QR codes from Pakistani banking apps and this site, and shop (merchant) payment QR codes that contain an IBAN. Other QR codes are shown as plain text.
How does the QR sticker scam work?
Someone prints a QR code for their own account and sticks it over a shop's QR. Customers scan it and pay the scammer instead of the shop. Checking the IBAN inside the counter QR every day catches it.
What does "checksum OK" mean?
Every payment QR ends with a checksum. If it matches, the QR was not damaged or edited after it was made. A scammer's QR made from scratch also has a valid checksum, so always compare the IBAN with your own.
